Summary: Oversee a 24x7 shift production operation maintaining a safe workplace and creating a positive culture in the work environment. Responsibilities include building quality into the product and meeting production and customer service commitments. Individual prepares operating and capital budgets, control costs, and increases the skill levels of the workforce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages multiple manufacturing softgel departments.
• Maintain a safe environment to reduce the risk of injuries from being sustained by the workplace.
• Implements safety training programs to ensure proper instruction in safe work practices is being provided.
• Promotes a positive culture and is capable of team building to ensure employees will work well together to increase efficiency and productivity.
• Create/revise and train on new SOP’s.
• Responsible for new production employee training plans.
• Keep training records, ensuring each employee has been properly trained and is familiar with department SOP’s.
• Must know all current SOP’s for production. Create and train employees on new SOP’s and revised SOP’s.
• Assist in maintaining environments that comply with CFR, cGMI, and company SOP’s.
• Explain and emphasize the importance of documenting all activities in logbooks incorporating good manufacturing practices (GMP). Standardize the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all production employees.
• Exercises good judgment in decisions, controls the use of resources and costs. Develops and manages budgets well, meeting or exceeding labor and material standards.
• Results oriented and capable of leading the areas to achieve production goals and ensure that sufficient inventory are available to meet customer service expectations.
• Provides leadership to continuously develop employee skill levels, adding increasing value to the company, enabling employees to perform their jobs better and faster.
• Aligns with the corporate vision and develops departmental and employee performance objectives that support company strategic goals.
• Takes the initiative to improve process. Problem solves through fact finding, resulting in short term corrective action and permanent long-term solutions.
• Maintains constructive and positive relationships with other managerial staff.
• Communicates early and often to information share and acknowledge the reality of the situation. Maintains a sense of urgency and is an active communicator.
• Leads by example and is highly visible on the manufacturing floor in touch with the pulse of the organization across all shifts.
• Views the managerial role as supporting employees to enable them to do their jobs better.
• Has the ability to assess risks and move forward quickly. When necessary, stakes positions before all the facts are known and is the champion for the Softgel Manufacturing Departments.
• Plans and projects future equipment requirements to ensure CAPTEK remains competitive; negotiates equipment prices with vendors, obtains approval from top management for purchases, and oversees installation and start of equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience in LEAN manufacturing environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of budget preparation.
• Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
• Problem-solving skills and people skills.
• Ability to set priorities, be flexible, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Working knowledge of cGMP’s and FDA regulations.
• Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
Education/Experience:
• Four-year college or university degree or its equivalent in Business, Engineering or Science (preferred).
• Requires 5 - 8 years’ experience in a production environment.
