Operations Manager II

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Operations Manager to join the Technical Consulting Team in Houston.  

Key Objectives:

• To lead Wood Production Optimisation Operations in Americas in the pursuit and execution of profitable business;
• To control engineering resources in a manner which promotes excellence of performance both for the individuals concerned, and for Production Optimisation, Wood;
• To cultivate Wood inspired culture within the team, and create a safe, engaging and inspiring working place.

• To be a good advocate for Wood Inspired culture, improve employee engagement, core team members retention, lower voluntary turnover, reduce recordable safety incidents, maintain mature ethics and compliance and create a safe, engaging, and inspiring working place.
• To be responsible for Wood PO team development, recruit engineering personnel to meet PO project requirements.
• To be responsible for the profitable business growth and meet the gross margin required for Production Optimisation (PO) business in Americas.
• To increase use of Global Execution Centres (GEC), to deliver consistent project outcomes and to increase % sustainable solutions.
• To drive engineering excellence on the assigned scope(s) of work for self and engineering staff within PO team and provide technical assurance on projects of all technical streams managed by PO team in the Americas region.
• Working along with PO global technical managers and global technical director, to ensure the assigned scope(s) are delivered in good quality and within the budget and margin targeted.
• Working together with Wood Staffing manager, to be responsible for personnel deployment to projects, and assistance with personnel allocation to bid preparation/ITTs.
• To be responsible for meeting utilization targets for self and Engineering staff and driving the indirect costs down.
• To manage jointly with the Technical System Manager on computing resources (hardware and software) to meet the needs of the PO team, and the improvements and problems with hardware / software are collated and disseminated to all Engineering staff.
• To organize performance reviews for direct reports.
• To grow Wood order book by leveraging existing network and experience, identify and source new work and grow our business.

• Recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or extensive experience in a relative field and a demonstrated ability to be able to perform equivalently to, or better than, reasonably expected of a degree qualified engineer. Advanced degree focussing in the areas of multiphase flow / fluid dynamics / heat transfer / applied mathematics is desirable but not required;
• 10+ years flow assurance, or similar, experience in the Oil and Gas industry with an excellent technical background;
• A proven track record in management of Production Optimisation projects;
• Good experience with major software packages eg. OLGA, Pipesim, PVTSim LedaFlow etc.;
• Good communication skills and client interfacing is essential;
• Good knowledge of local market and network in the oil and gas industry would be seen as an advantage.

HSE Qualifications and duties:

• Support compliance of all activities to Wood Group HSE and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Participating in and promoting compliance of Wood Group HSE and Occupational Health and Safety requirements as part of the risk management process.
• Participate in any Wood Group HSE initiatives and programmes.
