About the Team
The Business Operations team drives the vision, alignment and execution of cross-functional workflows, tooling and infrastructure needs for the content pipeline platform-wide, along with maintenance of corresponding documentation. This includes internal tools, external vendors, content and programming deal flow, revenue, rights management, and acquisitions. The core tenets of the team are accuracy, scalability, repeatability, and adaptability.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced content professional to support rights management for Roku's owned and operated channel, The Roku Channel. The Roku Channel (TRC) is an ad supported and premium subscription video channel available on Roku, mobile, web and other streaming platforms. The Associate/Sr. Operations Associate, Rights Management will ensure that asset metadata or titles acquired for distribution on TRC is accurately captured and transmitted through internal systems of record on time. Critical title insights include avails windows, territory considerations, and exhibition rights (e.g. number of runs, rights by studio, rights by channel). This individual contributor will help scale content scheduling and optimize title monetization through disciplined data entry and governance,
This resource will influence process and tooling enhancements to drive efficiencies, automation, and accuracy. Key stakeholders that this individual will interact with include team members from Programming Acquisition, Content Distribution, FP&A, Accounting, Legal, Content Operations, and Product Management. This role requires a deep understanding of rights management and the media landscape. This resource must have strong analytical skills and the ability to comprehend complex, multi-territory deals. Prior experience utilizing rights management systems and advanced excel modeling skills is required. This role will report into the Manager of Business & Revenue Operations.
What you’ll be doing
- Collaborate with Acquisitions and Distribution leads to extract content rights insights from content deals, and ensure accurate data entry of rights, business models and terms in Roku's proprietary systems and tools
- Validate accuracy and efficiency of data flow into downstream so content is monetized correctly and payments are processed properly
- Assist in creating the appropriate sets of reports to manage rights availability and validity (e.g. rights restrictions, ad restrictions, marketing restrictions)
- Complete routine audits to verify contractual rights obligations are being met and that there are no conflicts
- Partner with key stakeholders in Content Acquisition, Content Distribution, Legal, and Finance to identify and implement continuous improvements in tools, processes, and data
- Partner with Operations and Product Management to influence system enhancements to scale and automate rights management activities and improve capture of key metadata where possible
- Serve as the DRI from Business & Revenue Operations in testing and sign-off of product enhancements
We’re excited if you have
- 2-3+ years' experience in rights management, content operations, content scheduling, or programming acquisitions
- Expertise in rights management, content tracking, and contract management
- Expertise in understanding the rights and territories that content is available
- Experience working with content acquisition or content distribution teams
- Familiarity with SVOD, AVOD, and Linear business models
- Comfort and experience as an operator in technical and business tools
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with proven ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
- High degree of drive and self-motivation
- User experience in Salesforce and reporting intelligence with Salesforce
- Interest in and comfort level reviewing legal language and business terms
