Project Overview
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.
Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.

Position Summary
Assigned to the Construction Survey organization as the Office Surveyor / Survey Cad Specialist - Craft Layout Program (OS-CLP), responsible for providing survey computations and drafting support as required for the Craft Layout Program. The OS-CLP reports directly to the Survey Coordinator - Craft Layout Program (SC-CLP). The OS-CLP interprets design drawings and specifications to determine associated commodities and equipment locations and provides construction layout data, direction and assistance to Craft personnel performing construction layout tasks, in support of the civil, structural, mechanical, and piping installations in the work area.
Responsibilities
- Assist the SC-CLP with oversight of select Craft layout operations and with providing technical direction to the Craft layout team.
- Assist the SC-CLP with the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
- Execute the responsibilities of the SC-CLP in his/her absence.
- Overall office quality and integrity of the Craft Layout Program.
- Ensures that survey office calculations activity execution supports construction schedule.
- Provide office technical support to the Craft layout crews including processing of survey data and preparation of deliverables utilizing survey industry best practices.
- Responsible for the administration of the Survey Work Request program for all Craft layout work.
- Develop and maintain survey data.
- Provide oversight and technical support of field work activities to the Craft layout crews.
- Review and approve survey field data from the Craft layout crews and ensure survey documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
- Prepare survey CAD drawings as required in the performance of duties, including generation of construction layout data.
- Provide Civil project completion data and documentation including "As-Built" records.
- Assist the SC-CLP with providing direction and training to Craft layout team members.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualfications:
- Engineering/Technical degree and 3 years’ experience in heavy construction/industrial layout or surveying, with a mix of traditional methods and modern instruments, software, and technology; with at least 2 years of supervisorial experience or 9 years’ experience (in lieu of a degree), with at least 3 years’ supervisorial experience
Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” safety program. Must have a strong drive toward Safety, both on and off the job, a commitment to seeing everyone go home each day as well
