Nurse- Part Time

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Southern Avenue Charter School is seeking a caring, qualified Part-Time School Nurse to provide health services to students, promote a safe and healthy school environment, and support students with medical needs during the school day. The nurse will play a vital role in supporting student wellness and attendance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide direct care to students with injuries, acute illness, and chronic health conditions.
2. Administer medications and manage health care plans in accordance with physician instructions.
3. Maintain up-to-date student health records and ensure immunization compliance.
4. Monitor for signs of communicable diseases and coordinate with health authorities as needed.
5. Educate students and staff on health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
6. Respond to health emergencies and coordinate with emergency services if necessary.
7. Collaborate with school staff and parents to ensure student health needs are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee required.
• CPR/First Aid certified; additional health certifications preferred.
• Experience in a pediatric, school, or public health setting preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse student populations.
