Department Overview:

UW–Madison, Division of Extension, Natural Resources Institute works at the crossroads of communities, natural resources, and agriculture.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Minimum: 10 Maximum: 15

Schedule:

Flexible- normally during business hours (8 AM to 5 PM)
Split between remote and onsite at 3500 University Ave. (2nd floor), Madison, WI. Expectation is one shift per week onsite for 2 to 4 hours with the rest remote. Free campus shuttle bus is available to our location.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $15.00 Maximum: $18.00

Qualifications:

Employment will require a criminal background check

Student must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution. Student will need to show proof of enrollment before starting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•Detail-oriented, self-driven, responsible, reliable, possess good writing skills and the ability to work in a team setting. Be able to handle multiple ongoing projects.
•Experience with Excel (or similar spreadsheet program) and with data entry preferred.
•Experience with internet research and ability to analyze information and make recommendations (finding sources, checking URLs for broken links, and determining a replacement, etc.).
•Experience with electronic file storage such as Google Drive, Box, SharePoint, and/or One Drive.
•Interest or experience in sustainability, natural resources, or environmental sciences preferred.
•Experience with videos and/or online content development preferred.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The position involves tasks related to supporting the administrative team at NRI and the outreach programs they support across the state. Duties will range from routine administrative tasks to interacting directly with outreach program managers. Tasks may include:
•Prepare materials for outreach programs, special events, and mailings
•Perform data entry in Excel or Google Sheets
•Work with program managers or outreach specialist to directly support projects
•Assist with program registrations
•Routine administrative support actions such as inventorying outreach materials and office supplies

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs (weight of 1 box of training manuals)
