We’re searching for an NPI Engineer, electrical focus. The NPI Engineer, PCBA focus candidate will be responsible for supporting design feedback from DFM perspective, technical questions from suppliers, incoming quality, testing and provisioning. This role is cross functional with respect to understanding design library components, IPC standards and quality metrics related to PCBAs, supplier communications, handoffs between Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability and Embedded FW.
In this role, you will
- Develop manufacturing practices and standards for electronic components and PCBAs
- Work with electrical designers to optimize designs for manufacturability and testability
- Instill DFx (DFM, DFT and DFR) practices across all electrical development
- Work with contract manufacturers to build planning and process development
- Schedule/ communicate possible hardware data release dates based on both development process and manufacturing lead time constraints
- Provide documentation feedback to design engineers
- Check and release hardware data packages for transfer to internal resources and contract manufacturers
- Work with testing and provisioning groups to coordinate electronics workflow
- Review component selections and potential alternate components with respect to electrical and mechanical characteristics
- Create any necessary control plans, critical to quality requirements, or work instructions for manufacturing
- Manage and release a manufacturing BOM for internal resources and contract manufacturer use
- Manage and own contract manufacturing process bring up through hand off to supply team
- Interact with internal supplier quality as a sustaining engineering point of contact
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in PCBA Manufacturing Electronics
- Familiar with PCB design software such as Orcad, Cadence, Altium, Mentor
- IPC A-610 certification is desired
- Experience in a hardware development environment, bonus points for experience in AV, robotics, or the automotive industry
- Experience with component selections with respect to electrical and mechanical characteristics
- Experience with supply chain and vendors
- Creation of work instructions
- Experience with team collaboration using various spreadsheets, project management tools such as Smartsheets, MS Projects, Jira Tools, Confluence, etc.
- Ability to travel (15%)
The base salary range for this position is $156,000 - $234,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
