We write to provide the role description for the outsourced driver required by our homecare agency for non-medical transportation services.
Our agency requires a professional, reliable, and suitably experienced driver to provide safe and timely transportation for clients moving from one facility to another. This may include transportation between hospitals, care homes, residential homes, clinics, day centres, and other agreed locations.
The service required is strictly non-medical and non-emergency in nature. The purpose of the role is to ensure that clients are transported safely, comfortably, and with dignity, while maintaining professionalism at all times.
The driver will be expected to carry out the following duties:
· Safely and punctually transport clients between designated locations.
· Assist clients, where necessary, with boarding and exiting the vehicle in a respectful and supportive manner.
· Ensure that clients are safely seated during transit and that any wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids are properly secured where applicable.
· Maintain effective communication with our agency or designated contact regarding pickups, drop-offs, delays, incidents, or concerns arising during transportation.
· Observe and promptly report any concerns relating to the client's safety or wellbeing during the journey.
· Ensure that the vehicle used for transportation is clean, roadworthy, properly insured, and suitable for the safe conveyance of vulnerable individuals.
· Comply at all times with relevant road traffic laws, health and safety requirements, safeguarding procedures, and confidentiality obligations.
Important Scope Limitation: The driver is not expected to provide medical care, medication administration, clinical monitoring, nursing support, or emergency medical intervention during transportation. Any assistance provided must be limited to basic non-clinical support related to safe mobility and access to and from the vehicle, and only within the limits of the driver's training and competence.
We expect that any driver assigned to this role will meet the following minimum requirements:
· Hold a valid and appropriate driving license.
· Have a satisfactory driving record.
· Be dependable, punctual, courteous, and professional.
· Have experience, preferably, in transporting elderly persons, vulnerable adults, disabled individuals, or persons with limited mobility.
· Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Show understanding of dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries in the care environment.
· Have undergone appropriate vetting, including DBS clearance or equivalent, where applicable.
In addition, we expect that all assigned drivers are suitably trained and competent, appropriate for the transportation of vulnerable adults.
