NGM - Underground Maintenance Field Engineer

JOB PURPOSE                            

The Underground Maintenance Field Engineer will participate in all maintenance activities associated with autonomous and specialized drilling equipment involving mechanical components, structural overhead, machinery, and pressure-related equipment, using specialized knowledge of regulatory requirements and engineering practices. The position aligns with Nevada Gold Mines' DNA, supporting safe and efficient mining operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES                     

Primary responsibilities and tasks:

• Drive our Zero Harm culture and provide field leadership and support of our DNA, utilizing every possible opportunity to demonstrate alignment. 
• Lead and develop a team of multi-disciplined techniciansto repair and maintain a fleet of specialized and technologically advanced underground and autonomous mining equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, bolters, and other mobile equipment, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Implement technological advances at the mine site.
• Collaborating with the Maintenance Superintendent to ensure that repetitive or costly failures are solved to root cause and critical equipment is maintained effectively to eliminate or address failures
• Taking the lead in ensuring reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, control loops, safety, and security systems
• Making specific recommendations to improve equipment performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure data

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• Extensive experience working in Australian underground mines required
• Held a relevant trade certificate or tertiary qualifications required
• Demonstrated ability to drive a Zero Harm culture.
• Experience new installations of autonomous and specialized underground mining equipment to ensure their maintainability and reliability
• Experience in developing technical procedures. 
• Communicate department status with supervision and interface with other departments.
• Directing the development and execution of training activities for maintenance technicians on technologically advanced equipment
• Assist in the development and administration of the preventive maintenance program for technologically advanced equipment

 

Education

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering and demonstrated field experience in maintaining equipment or equivalent OR twelve (12) years of specialized and advanced underground maintenance of Sandvik, Komatsu, and/or Caterpillar equipment is required.
