OnsiteCollins Aerospace is seeking a talented & motivated individual to join the Aircraft Architectures & Systems engineering team in defining, designing, and implementing reusable Software (SW) Core Assets. This growing engineer team is part of the newly created Avionics Advanced Systems & Architectures (ASA) organization.
This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.
What YOU will do:
- You will benchmark software best practices across Collins and Industry to assess for applicability and/or adaptability in Avionics SW Core reusable assets.
- You will design, develop, and deliver high-quality SW deliverables, potentially including microservices, applications, modules, and common libraries.
- You will collaborate with Channel and Product Line teams in the integration of SW Core Assets, deliberately and regularly collecting feedback for continuous process improvement.
- Travel includes both domestic and international: <10%
What YOU will learn:
- You will gain exposure to stakeholders across all the Avionics Channels & Product Lines, including executive leadership.
- You will gain specialized and general SW Architecture design and development skills to activate the Avionics Product Line vision to be the leading provider of Open Systems & high-integrity aviation solutions.
- You will gain experience in introducing and measuring the successful impact of new SW Core Assets and novel reuse strategies.
Qualifications YOU must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of embedded software development experience
- Ability to collaborate & bring various stakeholders together.
- Self-motivated with a high sense of responsibility.
- Comfortable working in a fluid & undefined environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Lead Software Engineer, or similar role, as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Experience in design, development, and documentation of avionics software products and technologies, up to & including DO-178B DAL A.
- Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly across organizational boundaries.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical subjects concisely at all levels of the organization.
