Job Description

We are looking for a Network Engineer II. In this role, you will be liable for maintaining the server inventory and supporting the lifecycle of all security equipment. The administrator will be responsible for addressing server-related issues and engaging other company's support groups or vendors as needed. They will ensure that security applications services are running, and vulnerabilities are addressed. The administrator will seek process improvements and assist with operational tasks and projects across managed security applications.

This position is a Remote position and will be a W-2 Hourly 12+ months contract with possible extension. 

The hourly rate is $38 – $40. Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and skills. Candidates are also eligible for limited benefits such as health insurance, professional development, training, our referral bonus program, and our wellness program.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Windows server administration; designs, installs/decommissions, and configures servers both on-prem and in the Cloud Platform.
  • Supports server OS and Application deployments and other special projects like server migrations etc.
  • Monitors servers for security threats and vulnerabilities, such as malware, viruses, and other attacks, and takes appropriate action to mitigate these risks.  
  • Monitors the performance of servers and ensures that they are running smoothly; this includes checking system logs, monitoring resource usage, and addressing any issues that arise.  
  • Maintains reports regarding system downtime, plans for preventative maintenance, and disaster recovery.
  • Improves and maintains monitoring, configuration management, and reporting functions.
  • Maintains inventory and asset configuration documentation.
  • Ensures change control processes are followed and service levels, affected by those changes, are maintained.
  • Troubleshoots server issues such as software and hardware failures, connectivity issues, and security breaches.
  • Conducts log analysis and patch management to ensure high system integrity and security.
  • Assists with management of Active Directory, Group Policies, Users, and Computers; manages user accounts, permissions, and access control to ensure that only authorized users have access to sensitive data and resources. 
  • Ensures continuity plans remain viable and meet the company's expectations in the event of a server outage.
  • Adheres to the company's policies and standards concerning server configuration and administration.
  • Performs scheduled and ad hoc control/compliance validation; assesses and audits against Company security policies and standards.
  • Ensures that the server's operating system and applications are up to date with the latest security updates and patches.
  • Ensures that the server's data is regularly backed up and can be restored in the event of a disaster or system failure.
  • Serves as a technical expert in server systems administration and systems management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Proficiency in managing Windows servers.
  • Familiarity with Access Control Systems (ACS) and Video Management Systems (VMS) such as AXIS, Genetec, AMAG, ProWatch, MorphoManager, and similar solutions.
  • Strong grasp of Active Directory (AD) for user and resource management.
  • Previous experience with security operations and system administration is a plus.
  • Experience working in high-paced environments with little supervision.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical discussions.
  • Proficient in Scripting
  • Proficiency in documentation and presentation to ensure clear and concise communication.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills, covering technical and non-technical problem-solving.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to compliance and security standards.
