At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Production & Supply team is currently seeking a Quality Testing Laboratory Manager, located in Slater, Iowa.
Job Description
Responsible for overseeing the quality testing laboratory's operations to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, procedures, and accreditation standards. Ensures timely and compliant testing activities, adherence to service level agreements, and adequate testing capacity. Manages laboratory staff and activities to maintain a safe, environmentally friendly work environment.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive organizational and resource planning strategies for the laboratory, encompassing both seasonal and long-term (1-3 year) horizons. This includes assessing and planning for equipment capacity, human resources, consumables, and utilities.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to be monitored and evaluated as part of the seasonal management cycle.
- Ensure the availability of the required number of externally accredited labor for seasonal workloads and oversee the attainment and maintenance of individual accreditations.
- Collaborate with global or regional subject matter experts and projects to develop new testing methodologies.
- Develop and maintain service level agreements with customers in accordance with regional guidance.
- Demonstrate HSE leadership by promoting safe behavior throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Engineering Quality Management System (ISO or other) certification preferred
- 5 - 7 years’ experience in a seed production and/or seed quality testing role
- 2-3 years’ experience with direct people management
- Demonstrable experience in industrial operations management (i.e., continuous flow, batch, lean manufacturing)
- Lab operations and/or quality assurance experience
- Project management of multi-functional and multi-country projects
- Basic knowledge of SAP and data structures
- Ability to travel (<10%) for system testing, user training, regional meetings, etc.
