About the role

For the engineer who started out on one side of fire and security, has been branching into the other, and now wants to be equally good at both.

That's what the training here is set up for. Manufacturer and in-house courses are part of the job, including FIA and BAFE, so the weaker side gets built up while the work carries on. Being fully multi-skilled is what gets an engineer the bigger salaries later on, so it's worth having.

Day to day, it's servicing and maintenance on fire alarms, intruder, CCTV and access control. The sites are a good mix: schools, council and housing buildings, and commercial properties across the NR and IP postcodes. It's your own patch and your own customers, with a share of the on-call rota.

The company is a nationwide service provider with over 30 years behind it, around 100 staff and its head office in Norfolk. That makes it big enough to fund training and keep the work steady, without being corporate about it. The people running it came up through the tools.
