Your Opportunity

Stantec Government Services (GS) has an opening for a Senior Military Operations Specialist assigned to the Hampton Roads, VA office, with potential for remote work. The position will initially support existing and emerging training infrastructure projects—including ranges and training areas—for the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific and other areas of operations. As mission requirements expand, the role offers increasing opportunities for leadership, broader project involvement, and deeper engagement with strategic initiatives across multiple regions.  

Your Key Responsibilities

This position requires an in-depth knowledge of military training, operational training range development and management, and, more specifically, range and training area capability and capacity as pertains to Marine Corps ranges across the Service. The ideal candidate is a former Marine Gunner (or Service equivalent) or range operations manager with deep familiarity with operational range requirements and experience translating those operational requirements into range capability, design, and management. Experience with environmental planning laws and regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act is a plus.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The candidate must possess an extensive background in the design and execution of live and non-live fire military training capabilities to meet operational requirements.
  • Expertise and experience in conducting unit training capability analyses and training plan design and execution, coupled with a senior-level understanding of Marine Corps force structure and composition are required.
  • Proven staff-level experience in drafting, coordinating, and presenting operational plans, policy documents, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Skilled in technical writing, including the development of formal reports, documentation, and mission-support analyses tailored to civilian, military, and interagency audiences.
  • The candidate must possess extensive unit training officer and technical weapons employment experience at the battalion, regiment, and division levels.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required for position.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of direct experience in analyzing, designing, conducting and evaluating military live fire training up to the division level.

or

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 10 years of direct experience in analyzing, designing, conducting and evaluating military live fire training up to the division level.
