The HVAC Technician position will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL.
Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
Perform multi-craft tasks associated with in-plant maintenance.
- Must have knowledge of gas (LP & Natural) and electrical (strip & heat pump) heating systems.
- Must be able to repair, install, and design control systems.
- Must possess strong troubleshooting skills in control and line voltages.
- Must be able to troubleshoot, repair and replace load devices including, but not limited to, compressors, blower motors, and motor starters.
- Must be able to troubleshoot control devices including, but not limited to, thermostats, limit switches, and lockout relays.
- Must be able to perform skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of heating and air conditioning equipment, including air conditioning chillers, using in-depth knowledge of electrical and refrigerant fundamentals.
- Must possess the ability to select, use, and maintain common hand tools and test equipment.
- Requires certification as a Universal Technician per EPA's CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certification Program.
- Must be able to read schematics.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
- Observe all departmental safety requirements.
- Inspect units or parts for defects and workmanship.
- Work from written or verbal orders, including sketches or diagrams.
- Practice and support Rheem values with internal as well as external customers.
- Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.
Work Environment: May be exposed to high noise levels and almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, extreme temperatures, and potentially biohazardous materials.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma/
- Background/Experience:
Certificate from an approved, formally recognized Air Conditioning/Refrigerant program. - 1 year of AC/Refrigeration repair experience.
- Associates degree in AC/Refrigeration preferred.
Certificates Licenses
Certificate from an approved formally recognized Air Conditioning/ Refrigerant program. Associates degree in AC/ Refrigeration preferred.
The following abilities will be evaluated- Lift truck.
Physical Demands
Considerable physical activity, frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. Occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs. Requires ability to work constantly in awkward and unsupported body positions.
