SUMMARY:

The Clinical Trainee Therapist is responsible for the delivery of coordinated and collaborative clinical services to children, adolescents and families across various community-based settings.  Such services shall be consistent with Agency policy and procedures, clinical supervision, the Core Practice Model, community mental health service provisions, and the standards of practices for Marriage and Family Therapist Trainees, Professional Clinical Counselor Trainees, or Clinical Social Worker Interns within the State of California. Therapists are assigned client cases

JOB DUTIES:

• Ensures that professional services are rendered to and/or on behalf of clients and families in a manner that promotes their overall safety, recovery, health, and well-being, and adheres to the mission and vision of the Haynes Family of Programs. Ensures that all such services are in accordance with all laws rules, and regulations governing professional practice
• Responsible for the delivery and coordination of community-based, strengths-based Mental Health Services to clients and families Such services are inclusive of, but not limited to, conducting intake screenings, , performing full clinical client assessments, developing individualized treatment plans with clients and families, conducting individual, group and/or family therapy and/or rehabilitation services in adherence with the Client Treatment Plan and engaging family members/caregivers/identified support persons in regular collateral contacts/sessions
• Monitors and documents the client’s progress towards meeting treatment goals.  Completes the required documentation of case consultations, individual and family services to track progress and increased/decreased level of functioning
• Assumes responsibility for Crisis Intervention and Psychotherapy in Crisis services when applicable, whether face-to-face or by phone under the guidance of the field instructor, the person responsible for clinical supervision, the assigned Program Manager and Coordinator, and/or Director of Treatment Services, including the initiating and coordination of psychiatric evaluations (5150/5585 holds) to determine the client’s need for hospitalization due to danger-to-self (DTS), danger-to-others (DTO) and/or being/becoming gravely disabled (GD)
• Responsible for the completion and processing of the Psychiatric Referral for clients needing psychiatric evaluation and possible Medication Support Services.  Responsible for conducting case consultations with the psychiatrist to communicate any changes in the client’s mental status and/or medication compliance, and treatment and progress
• Completes all documentation in accordance with deadlines and performance standards established by the Mental Health Policy and Procedures Manual and/or the Director of Mental Health.  Ensures compliance with and timeliness of documentation, productivity standards and service delivery, and that documentation is submitted in accordance with established schedules
• Works collaboratively with all members of the treatment team, including identified DCFS and/or Department of Probation personnel, school staff, and all other inter and intra-agency personnel
• Ensures that the principles of the Core Practice Model are adhered to by all team members, including the identification of client and family strengths, the providing of services in a timely and appropriate manner, and being the primary contact point for children, families, service providers, and community resource personnel
• Able to establish and maintain appropriate rapport with children, adolescents, families, inter and intra-agency personnel, and regulatory bodies
• Demonstrates professional and effective communication abilities, including the completion of written reports, letters and plans, initiating verbal communications with clients, families, the CFT and inter and intra-agency personnel, and exhibits an ongoing ability to engage formal and informal supports on behalf of clients and families
