Position Summary
The Medical Technologist I is to perform histocompatibility testing, including HLA typing by molecular methods, PRA, antibody identification and flow crossmatches. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance associated with test procedures and clerical tasks that employ the LIS to accurately order, report, and charge for test results.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Meets basic standards and qualifications for laboratory testing personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Subpart M, Section 493.1489. This is a direct link: https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Guidance/Manuals/downloads/som107ap_c_lab.pdf Note: It is recommended that, in order to ensure consistent application of these qualifications, the evaluation and verification of an applicant’s credentials be accomplished through the cooperative efforts of an experienced clinical laboratory technologist and the personnel department in a manner which will preserve the applicant’s anonymity.
- Bachelor's degree in Science that meets CLIA requirements to perform high complexity testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in one of the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences such as biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or related field.
