Overview
Trains to become a Medical Assistant Apprentice. Learns to perform clinical tasks of a medical assistant while preparing for the national certification exam. The MA Trainee is a temporary role for those actively enrolled in the DHCI program. Upon successful completion trainees transition to apprentices. Responsible for learning and practicing clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Computer skills strongly preferred.
- Must be willing to complete all class activities and assignments as scheduled which may include evenings and weekends.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire date.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA-NHA) within 6 months of hire.
