POSITION SUMMARY:  The plant mechanical systems group is part of the Plant Systems Engineering department. The person in this position supports development of technical requirements and advances the design of the balance of plant (BOP) mechanical systems within a power plant utilizing NuScale power modules. General duties of this position include preparation and review of system requirement documents and other technical documents in accordance with NuScale Power procedures and applicable project specific requirements. This position also provides some oversight and technical support to plant design development performed by NuScale’s design partners, with a focus on supporting internal technical decision making. The ideal candidate will have experience with design, operation, and equipment associated with a variety of balance of plant systems including radioactive waste systems, steam turbines, condensate and feedwater, main steam, process utilities, and HVAC systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares and reviews engineering documentations that communicate the design requirements of components, systems, and structures associated with balance of plant systems.
2. Plans, organizes, and performs complex assignments in a team environment.
3. Acts as technical lead for various balance of plant mechanical systems to support design partner’s design development and technical requests.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

• Education/Certification:  A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university is required.  A PE license in mechanical engineering or other applicable discipline is desired.
