The Technical Training Instructor Support (TSIS) for Mechanical Materials and Manufacturing is responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and evaluation of training courses in these disciplines for the US Government's personnel. The TSIS will work closely with the training team to ensure that the courses are aligned with the Government’s training goals and objectives. The TSIS will also be responsible for providing technical support to the instructors and students.

 

Responsibilities:

• Incorporate US Government operational skills into training curriculum in a manner consistent with the worldwide support provided to missions.
• Develop, maintain, and instruct courses for interns, new staff, existing personnel, and those rotating through multiple tours.
• Coordinate training requirements for curriculum and courses.
• Ensure continuity across training experiences (class and field) in accordance with adult training principles.
• Develop courses and course documentation (lesson plans, handouts, instructor notes) and design evaluation instruments.
• Maintain knowledge of industry and IC strategic directions and potential impact on contract related activity in the area.
• Coordinate with government’s prioritization of requirements, provide training plan for review/approval.
• Deliver training with a variety of instruction strategies.
• Organize classroom setup, supplies, and scheduling.
• Provide a post-training report to the Government, including information on the effectiveness of the course as presented and modifications needed.
• Thorough understanding of safety practices for handling hazardous chemicals in a safe and productive way.
• Mold making and casting using a variety of materials.
• Seal, repair, and modify in-adequate/ damaged castings into quality, finished products.
• Surface castings and finishes using techniques such as HVLP spray gun, airbrush, paintbrush.
• Finish/paint single and multiuse organic cache items for field expedient outdoor geocache to meet operational deployment standards.
• Thorough understanding of plastics identification/repair
• Hands-on technical application techniques combining art, material science, and engineer skills.
• Ability to sculpt 1:1 scale as well as larger/smaller sculptures of organic objects using oil-based clay, water-based clay, EPS, polyurethane foam, etc.
• Ability to alter appearance of wood, metal, plastics, to artificially age and weather
• Bond sample materials using adhesives (epoxy, urethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, anaerobic, PVAC, hot melt, radiation cured and pressure sensitive tapes.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in training development and delivery in the mechanical materials and manufacturing fields.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
• This position requires a TS clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
