The Role
Wood is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Life Sciences (Biotechnology / Pharmaceuticals) team within our Philadelphia, PA or Raleigh, NC offices to develop life-changing and, in many cases, life-saving solutions for our clients. We’re looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to execute all phases of project design. Project sizes will vary and will include both existing building improvements and new construction.

Typical responsibilities
- Assist senior mechanical engineers in designing AF&IDs, zoning & pressurization diagrams, HVAC and piping layouts
- Actively participate in internal coordination meetings with senior engineers of several disciplines
- Optimize and standardize HVAC tools in order to produce design
- Maintaining effective communication with project team members and clients
- Work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy by a Senior Engineer
- Review of submittals and shop drawings

Expected:
- At minimum, a current Sophomore, pursuing a BS or MS in chemical / mechanical / bioengineering from an accredited university
- Experience within Life Science Industry is preferred
- Knowledge of cGMPs is preferred
- International experience is preferred
- Acceptance of a hybrid working environment (employees can work from home or can choose to come into our center city office)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative
Desirable:
- AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus
