The Structural Engineer will analysis all aspects of industrial baseplates and supporting structures.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
General Structural Analysis: The structural engineer will be responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of various industrial baseplate structures and identifying any potential structural weaknesses or deficiencies. They will need to assess load-bearing capacities, evaluate structural components and materials, and provide recommendations for strengthening the structure as needed along with any potential cost savings. Prepare finite element models and perform finite element analysis of industrial packaged equipment baseplates. Evaluate deformations and stresses, report design deficiencies, and determine design improvements. Creation of structural substantiation reports for customer submittals.
Wind Analysis: The structural engineer will need to assess the impact of wind forces on industrial baseplate structures and develop strategies for mitigating any potential damage. This may involve designing wind-resistant structures and identifying areas that need reinforcement on existing designs.
Seismic Analysis: The structural engineer will be responsible for assessing the seismic performance of industrial baseplate structures and developing seismic-resistant designs. This will involve analyzing the effects of seismic forces on the structure and designing structures that can withstand these forces.
Modal Analysis: The structural engineer will need to conduct modal analysis to determine the mechanical natural frequencies of structures and identify any potential vibration or resonance issues. They will then need to develop strategies to mitigate these issues.
Lifting Analysis: The structural engineer will be responsible for conducting lifting analysis to ensure that structures can be safely lifted and transported without causing damage. This will involve assessing the weight and distribution of the structure, as well as the lifting equipment and methods used.
Transportation Analysis: The structural engineer will need to assess the structural integrity of structures during transportation taking into account factors such as road conditions, loading and unloading procedures, and the transportation method used. They will need to develop strategies to ensure that the structure can be safely transported without sustaining damage.
