Credence has an immediate need for a Journeyman Mechanical Engineer for our Medium Caliber Ammunitions program within the Armament Sustainment Division at Robins AFB, GA.

 

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Armament Sustainment Division is focused on both system acquisition and sustainment. Program requirements vary based on life-cycle phase. The Armament Sustainment Division supports United States Air Force (USAF) requirements and FMS requirements from over 44 countries.

 

The Medium Caliber Ammunition program is a non-Acquisition Category program.  The program is transitioning from the Munitions Division, Armament Directorate (AFLCMC/EBH Hill AFB, UT) to the Armament Sustainment Division, Armament Directorate (AFLCMC/EBW, Robins AFB, GA).  The program manages and sustains all medium caliber ammunition for the USAF and translates requirements into procurement execution and stockpile support for ammunition needs (i.e., numerous variants of 20mm, 25mm, 30mm and 105mm).  Medium Caliber Ammunition maintains a systematic process for measuring and reporting all fielded ammunition Operational Safety, Suitability & Effectiveness (OSS&E) elements.  These elements include Deficiency Reports, Malfunction Reports, Expenditure Reports, and Aging & Surveillance Test Data.  The AF responsibilities for Primary and Secondary Inventory Control Activities vary depending on variant of ammunition.  The Single Manager Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) is responsible for the acquisition of most of the Medium Caliber Ammunition and the AF Medium Caliber Ammunition program provides procurement funding to the SMCA, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.  The Program Manager Combat Ammunition System (PM CAS) is responsible for all 105mm ammunition and components and receive their funding directly from Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

 

The Mechanical Engineer will perform mechanical/aerospace/materials engineering work involving in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

  • Mechanical Engineers shall plan, organize, direct, and coordinate significant and complex projects involving the science of mechanical engineering (e.g., statics, dynamics, tribology, mechanical wear, fatigue, corrosion, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer) and the science and practice of aeronautics involving airborne vehicles traversing the earth’s atmosphere and space flight, along with developing and applying the means of testing, evaluation, life prediction, and standardization of materials and their properties for use in engineering designs and projects.
  • This includes the generation and interpretation of technical data such as 2D drawings and 3D models.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of Secret security clearance required.
  • Education/Experience criteria must be met:
    • BS degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited University and 4 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
