Bechtel has performed engineering or construction services on over 150 nuclear plants adding more than 74,000 megawatts of new nuclear generation capacity to the world. Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the AP1000 project by preparing studies, piping and instrumentation diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This position will require working with other functions and disciplines in a team environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate within the mechanical group and other disciplines/functions in developing system designs including but not limited to Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), calculations, data sheets, material requisitions, and engineering specifications.
  • Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client.
  • Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 1 - BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with one (1) years of progressive related experience, or in lieu of degree, seven (7) years of progressive related experience.
  • Level 2 - BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with three (3) years of progressive related experience, or in lieu of degree, nine (9) years of progressive related experience.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S. without sponsorship. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
  • Some knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Experience in power (nuclear) plant design.
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training Ce
