Project Overview:
Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the Sentinel (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. Sentinel is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.
A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Position Summary:
This position is for a Mechanical Engineer who will prepare designs for mechanical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the Sentinel (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. The Sentinel program is the weapon system replacement for the Minuteman III missile systems. Our team is supporting Northrop Grumman and the USAF’s nuclear deterrence mission to modernize this ground-based leg of the nuclear triad.
Responsibilities:
This role will support design development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the Sentinel program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
- Development design drawings and other design documents
- Perform formal calculations
- Prepare design and equipment specifications
- Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management
- Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines
- Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Level 1: BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university.
- Level 2: BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
- Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to design drawings, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.
