Mechanical Engineer

 

Position Summary 

OPEX is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Continuation Engineering team. In this role, you will support the lifecycle of Opex product lines by working cross-functionally with manufacturing, production, quality, and field service teams. Your focus will be on maintaining product performance, resolving technical issues, implementing cost improvements, and ensuring continued manufacturability and reliability of products in the field.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Provide engineering support for manufacturing and production lines, resolving mechanical issues affecting quality, yield, or throughput.
• Lead or contribute to root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for design or process-related failures.
• Evaluate and implement design changes, component substitutions, or improvements to enhance product reliability and reduce cost or obsolescence.
• Interface with field service teams to troubleshoot customer-reported issues and drive resolution plans.
• Create and revise engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications in compliance with internal standards.
• Collaborate with supply chain and vendors on part quality issues, supplier transitions, and material changes.
• Support sustaining product lifecycle activities, including change control (ECOs), product compliance, and regulatory updates.
• Assist in validating and qualifying engineering changes through testing and analysis.
• Continuously seek and implement process improvements.

 

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in CAD software (Inventor)
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and assembly.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

 

 

Physical/Work Environments 

 

• Employee will work primarily in an office environment and occasionally in production/ warehouse facilities 
• Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time may be required 
• Occasional walking and/or driving between local OPEX facilities may be required 
• Occasional travel to customer sites may be required 
• Employee will frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
