About the role

DESE is seeking multiple skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineers to join our team. The successful candidate will design, manufacture, and test mechanical components and systems, with a particular emphasis on sheet metal fabrication. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manufacture mechanical systems and components using CAD software.
  • Conduct research and analysis to determine design feasibility, cost, and performance benefits.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing, focusing on sheet metal fabrication, armored structure development, fixture development, and value-engineering.
  • Perform testing and validation of prototypes and final products to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, software engineers, and other team members to integrate mechanical designs with overall product architecture.
  • Identify and solve engineering problems by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing teams during the production process.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project progress and outcomes.
  • Manage multiple projects, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and development.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sheet metal and machined part fabrication, with a strong emphasis on sheet metal.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred, but not required.
