We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Engineering Team, Chandler at Snap Inc!
What you’ll do:
Design and development of new products and systems; primarily focusing on micro-displays, related subsystems and technologies
Support manufacturing process and design improvements of displays and packaging to improve yield and throughput
Thermal and stress analysis, test, evaluation and validation
Opto-mechanical and electromechanical design
Troubleshooting and validating design performance
Complex tolerance analysis
Design of experiments and design for manufacturing
Fabrication and assembly of mechanical systems
Execution of technical presentations
Technical documentation including specifications, reports, drafting, etc.
Be hands-on with part inspections, mechanical sub assembly builds, troubleshooting support, etc.
Provide support to other engineering teams, contract manufacturers, vendors, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals such as mechanism design, heat transfer, stress/strain, material mechanics, etc.
Knowledge of drafting standards, dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T), surface finishes, and drawing annotations as they relate to manufacturing processes (e.g. machining, injection molding, sheet metal forming, etc.)
Skilled at utilizing 3D CAD modeling software (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, etc.) for part and assembly design & analysis.
Ability to own the projects; prioritize and manage time/resources while completing required research, design, test, analysis, validation and reviews in an autonomous manner.
Ability to interpret design needs based on project requirements, priority, schedule, and budget.
Ability to utilize theory, simulation/FEA, and Test to propose solutions, validate designs, investigate failures, R&D, etc.
Ability to follow scientific method and design of experiments (DOE) principles.
Ability to apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles when necessary and/or help develop manufacturing processes.
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with management, cross-functional teams, outside resources and suppliers.
Skilled at working with MS Word, Excel, Google suite, PDFs, and other forms documentation.
Ability to accommodate up to 10% required travel both domestic and international
Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment as well as an individual contributor
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
3+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineer
