Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing (MEP) Managers are responsible for the overall success of specific capital construction projects. This includes working with construction managers, project/program managers, contractors, vendors and other project stakeholders to develop and execute project plans, manage schedule, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget and meeting the goals and objectives of the company. A MEP manager is generally responsible for:
- Overseeing the MEP coordination process throughout construction.
- Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, subcontractors and owners to ensure alignment with expectations from initiation to completion of the project.
- Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control.
- Assist with managing the overall site safety program and ensuring subcontractor and vendor compliance with all applicable safety codes and regulations.
- Working with trades on coordination and sequencing effort for mechanical and electrical systems, equipment and piping layouts utilizing drawing sets and 3D models.
- Review various building system trades installation progress for compliance with drawings, specifications, quality and schedule.
- Identify schedule risks and opportunities and communicate them to the project team.
- Develop construction schedule and production plans.
- Produce progress and compliance reports and logs.
- Develop and execute project plans for a capital project within the context of the overall capital program, including defining project scope, schedule and budget
- Allocation and managing company resources.
- Manage project budgets and track expenses to ensure that projects stay within budget.
- Use common project management tools such as Earned Value Management to forecast, identify and address project risks and opportunities as well as manage change over the project’s lifecycle.
- Coordinate with the project stakeholders, including internal and external teams to keep everyone informed of project progress and to resolve any issues that arise.
- Oversee general execution of specific projects within the capital program.
- Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities to ensure project success.
- Manage project changes and ensure that all changes are documented and approved by all relevant parties.
- Work with the Construction Manager to Report on project progress to management and relevant project stakeholders.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Strong understanding of Electrical and Mechanical Systems.
- At least 5 years of experience with 3+ years in construction or project management, with a focus on capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Desire and ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
- Willingness to travel to project locations both within and outside of the US.
OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE:
- Experience with capital projects in the battery materials or other chemical process industries.
- Experience with project scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)
