Responsibilities

Arcfield is seeking a mechanical and aerospace engineer to support our hypersonic analysis development effort and U.S. Navy Strategic Programs in Colorado Springs, Colorado. For more than 65 years, Arcfield has supported the U.S. Navy by performing research, development, analysis, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation to assess weapon system performance and qualify weapon systems for the DoD and U.S. Navy.

 

You will join a new hypersonic development project team to learn and provide mechanical and aerospace engineering technical support for a fast-paced, hypersonic research and development effort.  You will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics commercial software for hypersonic flow simulations and Arcfield developed aerothermal, ablation, chemistry, and trajectory simulation tools. 

• Work in a team environment to plan and accomplish R&D project goals and objectives
• Learn and use CFD grid tools, and advanced CFD hypersonic flow solvers
• Learn and use hypersonic aerothermal/chemistry/ablation simulation tools
• Publish a summary report documenting results

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

 

• Experience with developing and running advanced computer models
• Experience with writing plans and reports
• Experience with briefing technical results
• Experience with data analysis and statistical modeling methods
• Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
• Experience with Matlab and Python
• Experience with Finite Element Modeling (FEM)
• Experience with engineering analysis codes and techniques
• Ability to travel to support meetings with customer and potential testing
• Experience with managing cost, schedule, and performance of ongoing analysis projects
• Ability to work independently or on a team
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• BS degree with 0-2 years of experience or HS diploma and 6-8 years of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation.
