JOB SUMMARY

ONEOK is seeking a Mechanic - Senior in Watford City, North Dakota, to perform advanced mechanical work on natural gas compression and related equipment supporting compressor, pipeline, gathering, storage, fractionation and/or gas processing operations. This role will focus heavily on servicing, troubleshooting, maintaining, installing and repairing natural gas engines, compressors, pumps, generators, turbines, valves and other fixed or rotating equipment critical to safe and reliable operations.

The Mechanic - Senior will bring advanced hands-on experience with natural gas engines and compression equipment, along with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret work orders, equipment manuals, drawings, gauges, performance data, inspection reports and maintenance records. This position may also train and direct employees involved in mechanical work, order and secure parts and supplies, maintain service documentation, support emissions or performance analysis, and respond quickly to equipment abnormalities, safety concerns or emergency conditions.

This role is based on-site in Watford City, ND, and candidates must live within approximately one hour of the reporting location. The expected schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with on-call rotation from Wednesday to Wednesday approximately once every 11 weeks. Day travel within the coverage area is required. In addition to ONEOK’s comprehensive rewards package, this position includes a $1,500 monthly geographic allowance, 6% profit sharing and an 8% short-term incentive opportunity.

Job Profile Summary

Directs or performs advanced level activities related to mechanical work on equipment at compressor, pipeline, storage, gathering, fractionation and/or gas processing facilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical work on fixed and rotating equipment at various locations including, but not limited to:
    • Internal combustion, diesel, natural gas powered engines and electrical drivers
    • Compressors, pumps, generators, turbines, valves, electrical equipment, and well equipment

  • Service, troubleshoot, maintain, install and repair structural, mechanical, electrical and/or well equipment. Conduct and interpret performance analyses, including emissions testing
  • Train and direct employees involved in mechanical work
  • Order and/or secure parts and supplies
  • Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles
  • Maintain, prepare and/or interpret reports and/or records including, but not limited to:
    • Work logs and service orders
    • Inspection reports
    • Engine/equipment maintenance and repair records
    • Pressure readings
    • Material and supply orders
    • Engine and compressor oil analysis reports
  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education

Work Experience

  • Experience in use and function of hand and power tools and equipment applicable to position
  • Experience and advanced knowledge servicing, maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Experience relative to company and/or governmental operating/safety policies and procedures
  • Advanced experience in troubleshooting equipment abnormalities and failure modes analysis
  • Experience reading and interpreting work and repair orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, warranties, quotations, procedures and equipment manuals
  • Experience preparing, processing, verifying records, safety and environmental reports, diagrams and material and supply orders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: ordering and/or securing parts and supplies
