Siemens Healthineers is seeking a summer Intern to work with our Transducer and Catheter Materials engineering team in the development of novel material technologies for high performance medical ultrasound transducers. You will work in a dynamic and cross-functional environment as part of the transducer engineering team to support the material development, testing endeavors for R&D as well as new production introduction. All work will be guided and reviewed by senior engineers to help the individual develop skills for the healthcare/ultrasound industry.
This is a role well suited for a highly motivated student looking to build their skill set and gain hands-on experience. As a Materials Development Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for:
Formulating and characterizing new materials
Performing design of experiments to understand material components' contributions to desired acoustic properties
Operation of material characterization test equipment
Performing data analysis and writing documentation
LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Python programming
Acoustic/lab testing equipment operation and troubleshooting
Basic ultrasound technology tasks
This position may suit you best if you are familiar with the areas and concepts below, and would like to develop your skills within Healthineers:
Working knowledge in chemical formulations, processing and chemistry lab safety
Material characterization techniques such as FTIR, DSC, DMA etc.
MATLAB, LabVIEW, and/or Python programming
Operating engineering lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, pulse/function generators, and impedance analyzers
Technical writing skills
Data analysis
Familiarity with Six Sigma Concepts
Required skills and education to have for the success of this role:
Pursuing a BS or MS in Materials Science/Chemistry or related engineering fields of study.
Self-motivated
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred)
The pay range for this position is $24-$40 hourly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on education, skills, and experience. Siemens Healthineers offers interns paid time off.
