The Specialty Materials and Integration Team is looking for experienced Metals/Joining Materials and Process Engineers to support Aircraft Sub-Systems on Boeing Defense Systems development programs. We are seeking highly motivated, energetic, and capable engineers at multiple levels (Associate, Mid-Level or Senior) to join the BR&T, Specialty Materials and Integration team in Berkeley, Missouri.
This team is responsible for providing M&P support to Boeing Defense Systems development programs. We are also responsible for leading materials development efforts (typically non-metallic) as well as identifying, developing, and transitioning specialty materials and technologies to platforms within Boeing Defense Systems. We are looking for someone who enjoys diversity in their work statement. The work statement will allow you to have depth in the Materials and Process focus area in Mechanical/Structures/Assembly or Metals/Joining/Metallurgy skills, but projects may require you to have more generalized Materials and Process skills including low observable materials, composites, chemical/contamination, and/or sub-systems.
Note: 10% or less domestic and international travel may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide Materials and Process Engineering support to Development Programs
- Review and approve sub-systems build-to-print packages, including fuel lines, hydraulic lines, ducts, and machining
- Make routine contact with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined integrated product team, working alongside other skilled technicians, engineers, and support staff
- Provide design engineering and production floor support for mechanical fasteners and industry standards
- Provide part modeling support, work on material substitutions and process improvements
- Leadership in the design, development and analyses of complex and large aerospace structures
- Produce specifications and other documents to define requirements and manage the use of materials, parts, tools and processes in aerospace production
- Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
- Promote standardization across multiple business activities
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to new and existing platform needs
- Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
- Conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of mechanical fasteners
- Daily shipside factory customer interaction and availability
- Define requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
- Develop and qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate
- Implement corrective and preventive actions
- Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
- Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
