Material Handler

The core function of this position is to strengthen the supply chain by picking, staging, loading, receiving, and shipping product to support the operation and customer demand. Tasks are operating various material handling equipment and technical equipment in the warehouse.

Job Description:

Schedule: 2nd Shift 4:30pm to 3:30am, Monday - Friday, with rotating for Saturday work based on production schedule.

Work Location: 1325 Chase Ave, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007

Benefits: Based on Union Contract Provisions

Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: 2nd shift: $20.71 per hour, plus $0.25 shift differential.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with management,
• fellow employees and truck drivers.
• Ability to Operate a Forklift and pass training tests
• Must follow OSHA forklift rules and fill out daily inspection form
• Reading, writing and perform math skills
• Responsible for keeping the warehouse and shipping/
• receiving docks clean and clear of debris, and sweep when needed
• Must also keep forklift clean and in sanitary condition.
• Able to work overtime
• Responsible for sampling raw materials and record the temperatures
• Able to load and unload Trailers and perform trailer inspections
• Responsible for delivering materials to batch makers or pack lines as needed
• Must be able to read production schedules and understand
• run sequence and materials required for each batch or pack run
• Must understand first in and first out (FIFO)usage of raw materials
• and proper recording of lot numbers
• Must understand allergen controls and separation according to policy
• Able to perform other tasks as needed
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and power industrial truck. The employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Education and / or Experience

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.

The physical demands attached are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Language Skills, Ability to read, write and interpret documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.

Use forklift (sit-down / counter-balanced) and other material handling equipment to pick, stage, load, or receive goods.

Maintain industry leading quality and customer service standards. 

Assist physical inventory of the warehouse.  Perform cycle counts as needed.

Piece-pick, wrap, and stage orders for shipment.

Inspect and perform light maintenance of forklifts and material handling equipment.  Identify safety hazards and prepare work orders to correct issues

Perform routine sanitation of warehouse areas.  Restack broken pallets and remove damages.

Consolidate partial pallets and clear bays for incoming goods and materials

Support other departments to insure efficient operation of the business
