Job Description:

Master Technician- Engineering (Defect) is responsible for monitoring wafer defects using optical inspection tools.  High defect levels need to be characterized and collaboration with Process and Equipment Engineering to find corrective actions. Failing products need disposition to protect our customers.

Shift: 1st shift M-F

Behavioral aspects:

  • Responds to requests (pages, etc.) promptly and professionally.  We are a service organization - courtesy, understanding, and assistance should be our overall goals.
  • Drives self-knowledge by generating lists of questions and reviewing them with technicians/engineers.
  • Interactive pass down performance.  All individuals must be able and willing to voice problems, concerns, and issues as well as ask questions and discuss future actions.
  • Volunteer for special engineering projects and provide suggestions for areas requiring project work.
  • Communicates changes, procedures, experimental status and results, etc. to other personnel.

Documentation tasks:

  • Entity and lot annotations must be accurate and up to date. 
  • Wafer numbers must be consistently accurate for both scans and reviews.
  • Pass downs must contain the important events (equipment issues, recipe problems, OOC lots, script inventory, and scrap violations) to be completed prior to 7:00 pass down.
  • Execute SPIFs without error, lots annotated properly, and the results documented in pass down or separate memo. Contact engineers or Techs when there are SPIF errors or confusion as to how the SPIF should be completed.
  • Lot annotation on splits and Space Flag lots must be accurate and up to date.
  • Concisely documents all experiments and unusual occurrences on lots and equipment issues.
  • Documents non-conformance, through NCM system.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 15+ years’ Semiconductor Process Engineering or similar experience.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Good analytical skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • Be able to communicate clearly in speech, writing, data and report presentation, e-mail communications, and meetings.

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of SPC, DOE, Cpk statistics
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma Way
  • Knowledge in using analyzing tools such as 8D, 5why, JUMP and SPOTFIRE

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred, higher level of education achieved in a related field of study such as engineering.
