Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The Technical Lead provides support for all engineering-related activities for the Marine Structures division . The Technical Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of the organization’s established policies and objectives on all division projects, initiatives, and processes by applying technical excellence, best practices, and strong leadership to all work and deliverables. The Lead Technical Specialist is expected to be able to jump into a variety of project types/sizes and immediately contribute to the development and QA/QC of project deliverables.

 

  • Serves as a technical leader for the division in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.
  • Subject matter expertise across many of the major technical areas of practice for a specific technical division in a regional office.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements in building codes, design standards and analysis methods affecting the division for the purpose of recommending and implementing changes.
  • Leads technical assignments and QA/QC of calculations and work product.
  • Supervises and mentors a staff of engineers and technicians.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.

Reviews project deliverables to ensure compliance with company and industry technical standards through QA/QC reviews.

  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining design standards and analysis methods for assigned practice area.
  • Coordinates with Principal on weekly manpower assignments for all technical operations and assists in managing any changes, as required.
  • Supports training and technical guidance to appropriate personnel regarding engineering analysis and design standards and technical software use.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.  
  • Minimum of 10 -15 years of professional experience. 
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
