The Manufacturing Team Lead performs administrative and functional duties for the Fabrication Department, Manufacturing Engineering, Configuration Group, Inspection, and Provide Leadership to all Fabrication Department employees.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide leadership and supervise members of the Fabrication Department and coordinate their activities.
  • Plan, maintain and achieve production schedules to provide timely and cost-effective delivery of final product.
  • Monitor departmental goals in keeping with company objectives. Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of standards within the department in keeping with these goals.
  • Establish and maintain Daily Visual Management (DVM) for all personnel and on all projects to provide current status on completion of activities and performance to objectives and value drivers.
  • Meet with team members and advise on ways to achieve and maintain KPI's and improve skills.
  • Assign, monitor, and balance team workload (schedule, portfolios, capacity planning, etc.).
  • Communicate with, evaluate and approve suppliers to ascertain their ability to meet company requirements, goals and objectives.
  • Lead the internal material inspection effort to verify compliance to design and manufacturability.
  • Interview and select new work center members; conduct annual reviews.
  • Assist the team with preparation and processing of parts for the “Outside Services” and in-house fabrication, including inspection, piece counts, required records, and subsequent movement to appropriate area.
  • Expedite problems with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased.
  • Assist with supply chain management strategies that maximize value while ensuring that ATS standards are maintained or enhanced such as managing cost containment, product standardization, supplier consolidation and benchmarking reports.
  • Monitor equipment/tool repairs and calibration; make suggestions for improvements including the purchase or new equipment or introduction of new technology.
  • Recommend changes to the internal controls’ memorandum, a document outlining the operational controls in place at the division.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in specialized production field or engineering.
  • Two-three (2-3) years’ experience in a manufacturing, custom equipment environment, preferably in international markets.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel (pivot tables & VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint.
  • Individual must have an ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in written form.
  • Proven organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives on a cross functional team.
  • Highly motivated, customer-focused team player and innovator.
  • Excellent knowledge of all aspects of machine operations, mechanical and electronic controls.
  • Ability to interpret schedules and assign workload.
  • Lean, Six-Sigma, QRM, or other continuous improvement experience.
  • Basic knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes, including inspection tools.
  • Basic knowledge of material handling equipment.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Able to stand and bend for long periods of time in a warehouse environment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
  • Working conditions – The employee is subject to a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and exposure to physical hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
