Summary:
The manufacturing engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.
Requirements
Essential Role and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting operator input
- Implement process improvements relating to quality, productivity, equipment reliability, safety and yield
- Provide engineering support related to process modifications for new product development
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Lead process improvement by identifying root causes of specific quality & operations issues by gathering & evaluating relevant data & working with QA, R&D and Maintenance
- Maintain product integrity and company reputation by complying with company policies
- Equipment oversight – training, operation – programming, process development, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Coordinating maintenance and repair schedules by following the manufacturer’s instructions, established procedures, production schedule, and service records
- Complete design and development projects by training and guiding assembly technicians
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Two (2) plus years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability and LEAN
- Experience with assembly fixtures for electro-mechanical manufacturing
- Strong drafting skills with experience/knowledge in assembly tooling, fixture design
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials, material strengths, and material uses for tooling and equipment
Software Skills:
- Aegis, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor and MS Office experience a plus
- Manufacturing software- Factory Logix
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Assembly experience, working with tools, machine shop, and chemicals
- Must have good oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-motivated, and possess a high degree of curiosity and desire to learn new things
- Ability to take initiative and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
