Scope:

  • Responsible for direct technical support & defining the methodology by which printed circuit boards assemblies are manufactured efficiently and consistently in order to meet customer quality requirements

  • Applies common engineering principles to identify and quantify improvement opportunities for product design and process methodology, and will consider all aspects of the manufacturing process including manpower, methods, materials, machines, measurements, and the work environment

  • Analyzes yield and statistical process control data and provides corrective actions for issues that negatively impact the performance of the division

  • Prepares project plans and manages/executes the completion of those plans in a time-critical fashion

  • Manages and executes engineering project assignments relative to process capacity, process capability, cost reduction, process efficiency, technology advancement and customer support, and is ultimately responsible for ensuring the profitability of the division by these means

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Programming implementation and initial setup of production equipment

  • Carries out cost-effective design, installation, method of transfer, monitoring, and modification of manufacturing processes. Identifies problems in process of materials. Researches and suggests alternative approaches to the manufacturing process

  • Analyzes yield and statistical process control data and provides corrective actions

  • Prepares project plans, manages/executes completion in time-critical manner

  • Establishes and maintains systems for determining whether a product, as designed, can be manufactured

  • First time build oversight and production release approvals in all production departments for production set ups, procedures, work instructions, tooling, and monitoring of the production process used

  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of necessary production tooling/fixtures

  • Hands-on operational experience necessary for process improvements & enhancements

  • 1st piece evaluation for effectiveness of work instruction, tooling and machine setup

  • Immediate technical support to production staff:

    • Provide Real-time “tweaks" to production processes

    • Feedback to & coordination of issues & updates w/ Managers, Engineers and Supervisors

  • Provide technical support for SPC feedback and error proofing production processes

  • Perform and document 8D root cause / corrective action investigations

  • Ensure production department(s) are in compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to interpret customer documentation (Blueprints, drawings, bills of material, specifications) 

  • Solidworks or similar 3d modeling software;

  • Use of various software platforms for equipment set up including MoleMap for Thermal Profiling for Convection Reflow and Wave Solder, Valor Process Preparation for artwork conversation to machine formats for SMT programming and troubleshooting

  • Hands on skills for mechanical assembly; hardware installation, epoxy application

  • Use of basic hand tools and machine shop equipment

  • Cross-functional communication skills, partnering across engineering, quality, and operations

Education and Experience:

Education:

  • BS Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing) or equivalent experience required
