This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, and Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team with a diverse background, you will support the research and development efforts of new and emerging manufacturing technologies in our Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Lab. In this hands-on role you will work directly with members of the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing team, translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. As an integral member of the team, you will conduct PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of manufacturing systems development.

 Responsibilities Include but aren’t limited to:

• Participate in the entire design, manufacturing and test cycle of rapid prototypes, mechanical components and subsystems, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, development testing and qualification for a wide range of development hardware.
• Select raw materials and manufacturing processes.
• Plan and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and with high quality standards.
• Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
• Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide reports containing the data and statistics to enable better understand of future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
• Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed to keep equipment operational.
• Implement new technologies.
• Collaborate with other engineers to maintain quality control and meet production targets.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, system engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Skilled in engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Knowledgeable in hardware manufacturing (i.e. additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software).
• Understanding of fundamentals for developing/starting new manufacturing processes.
• Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
