Position Summary:

As the Safety & Environment Manager, you will function as a Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Business Partner for the Midwest and South regions.  You are directly responsible for the overall Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and responsible for ensuring HSE procedures are being complied within all business unit operations within their assigned market (AL, IN, KY, MS, TN).  This role will allow you to be responsible for incident rates and trends which lead to workers compensation injuries and costs, patient, and customer safety, as well as ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.  The contributions you make as the Safety & Environment Manager, will position the treasury department and HSE initiatives make safety and environmental management a priority in all facets of day-to-day business.

You will accomplish this by:

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to include managing all state mandated safety and environmental programs, handle OSHA reporting and investigations.

  • Being an active partner with internal CVS groups / project teams and act as CVS’ liaison to external agencies, and third-party vendors to manage overall risk and reduce costs associated with identified risks.

  • Evaluating the overall cost of risk to CVS and provides guidance and assistance in the development of strategies to continually reduce these incidents and enhance return to work programs with the Workers Compensation group.

  • Participating in monthly meetings and/or conference calls to discuss safety matters with assigned Regions’ and/or Districts’ management.

  • Participating in the development and implementation of safety training for assigned regions to reduce risk and increase efficiencies in the workflow process.

  • Working with store operations management to ensure all levels of HSE training is conducted, completed, and monitored in the prescribed time frames and frequency.

  • Conducting in store compliance and safety assessments, providing guidance on corrective actions and follow up in a timely manner to ensure compliance is accurately maintained.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience operating safety management programs.

  • Ability to implement programs that are designed to mitigate risk and reduce claims for assigned region.

  • Ability and willingness to travel by car and airplane (up to 80% travel required within area, including overnights).

  • Must possess a valid and current driver’s license.

  • Must possess personal vehicle that meets and complies with company driving standards and is appropriately insured.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with OSHA and other regulatory agencies

  • Prior experience working healthcare setting

  • Knowledge of fire protection, OSHA, food safety, and hazardous materials regulations

  • Possess excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently

  • Ability to work within the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.


Education

Bachelor’s Degree required; equivalent work experience may substitute.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$54,300.00 - $119,340.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
