Job Description
X-energy is hiring an experienced Quality Assurance Testing Facility Manager to support its team in Frederick, MD. This position is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive quality program for a multi-faceted testing facility. This role ensures all nuclear equipment qualification and non-nuclear equipment testing activities meet rigorous regulatory, industry, and client-specific standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and a deep understanding of quality management systems in a highly regulated environment.
Job Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the test control quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures, plans, and manuals.
- Ensure the QMS is compliant with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ISO 19443, ASME NQA-1, ASME BPVC, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
- Define and develop quality standards for all testing processes, from receiving the test article/unit, in-process testing to final inspection and documentation.
- Review and approve technical documents, including test procedures, specifications, and reports, to ensure they meet quality requirements.
- Provide quality oversight for all testing activities, ensuring that procedures, specifications, and test plans are correctly executed.
- Verify the adequacy of test results and ensure all test reports and records are accurate, complete, and auditable.
- Develop, implement and maintain test facility's control of measuring and test equipment procedures, plans, and manuals.
- Oversee the control of measuring and test equipment (M&TE), ensuring all instruments are properly calibrated, maintained, and documented according to established schedules.
- Interface and collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to integrate quality requirements throughout the entire test lifecycle, from project planning to completion of test.
- Collect and analyze quality metrics to track performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide regular reports and updates on the status of the QA program to senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Manage testing nonconformance program, performing root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions for non-conformances.
- Lead, mentor, and train facility staff on all quality processes, standards, and procedures to cultivate a strong nuclear quality culture.
- Manage a team of QA/QC professionals, providing guidance and technical direction.
- Maintain thorough quality documentation and records, ensuring they are well-organized and readily available for inspection.
- This role shall actively promote and support nuclear safety culture at the facilities.
- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) or related field from an accredited college or university. Additionally, non-STEM degrees (i.e., business management, supply chain, project management, quality, technology associates degrees, etc.) will be considered in conjunction with prior work experience and training on a case-by-case scenario.
- Typically, ten years of experience, including eight years of experience performing QA/QC activities and oversight in a test facility, manufacturing environment, construction and/or operations. (Fabrication experience may be considered to augment some years of QC experience).
- Comprehensive knowledge, understanding of, and ability to interpret and apply various nuclear/non-nuclear Quality Standards to include but not limited to 10 CFR 50 App B, 10 CFR 21, ASME NQA-1, ASME BPVC, ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 17025.
