Purpose

• Manage the purchasing functions of the assigned Business Units to achieve maximum value and strategic purchasing results.
• Work closely with departments from the early stages to assist, guide, and mentor them in adopting best purchasing practices and in strategically planning and scheduling complex initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

• High involvement in strategic planning and analysis of complex initiatives and projects.
• Consistently achieve cost savings/avoidance and bring added value for the purchase of goods and service in accordance with HMA’s corporate Purchasing policies and procedures.
• Consistently provide a high-level of customer service, while assisting departments with sourcing of qualified suppliers, development of specification and/or scope or work/services, product standardization, negotiations, preparing clear and concise contract development and issuance of purchase orders.
• Manage and lead all phases of the purchasing bid process, including solicitation, analysis, negotiations, and recommendations for added value.
• Consistently promote early purchasing involvement.
• Use advanced knowledge to serve as a business consulting partner to assigned Business Units.
• Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships including review of performance on a regular basis.
• Exercise independent judgement to analyze the company’s purchasing requirements, research market conditions, and recommend strategic improvements to streamline the purchasing procedures.
• Assist with development and prepare reports on utilization, expenditures, cost savings, avoidance, and value added.
• Responsible for assisting in the development, training, and educating of the assigned Business Units.

• A pro-active approach to identifying and resolving potential problems or issues that may impact a program, project or business condition. 
• Critical issues are to be discussed with management for visibility, direction and alternative solutions.  
• Position may be involved with interviewing/evaluation of new hires.
• PO signature authority up to $300,000

Education

~ Must be a high school graduate~ Bachelor’s degree preferred

Related Experience

• Seven to ten years of experience buying commodities, equipment and services.
• Two to three years of supervisory experience desired

Skills/Knowledge

• Experienced with integrated purchasing/accounting/financial systems.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting practices and principals.
• Strong analytical skills
• Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced negotiation and cost/price analysis skills
• Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access
• Experience with SAP is preferred

$85,400.00 - $122,000.00 Annual
