About the role

Job Description:

Salad and Go is seeking a Manager of Field Quality to lead our efforts in food safety, quality assurance, and risk management. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs, risk management, and compliance initiatives across Salad and Go's operations, from raw material sourcing through store and customer -level execution. The Manager will support store operations, product development and raw material suppliers, driving continuous improvement in performance and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. This role reports into the VP of FSQA.

As the Manager of Field Quality, you will oversee:

  • Store-level FSQA programs: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive food safety and quality assurance programs for all Salad and Go stores, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry best practices.

  • Food Safety & Quality in Sourcing:  Establish and manage internal standards (requirements and processes) for risk-based management of suppliers and sourced materials. Support procurement team with implementation of the FSQ programs and drive continuous improvement.

  • Tactical support of Manufacturing and Store operations: Assist in resolving FSQA related issues and incidents at field level

  • FSQA competence of field teams - Develop training program for procurement, store operations, and product development to ensure appropriate level of knowledge and skill required by the functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support integration of FSQA into Store Operations: Provide guidance, training, and support to store operations on food safety procedures and quality control measures. Conduct regular store audits to ensure compliance Oversee relationship with third party FSQA auditing partners.

  • Lead incident management and corrective actions: Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to quality or food safety. Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.  Coordinate and execute all activities associated with outbreak response or regulatory investigations at the store level. Act as liaison between local health departments and Salad and Go.

  • Maintain documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of all FSQA activities, manage document control within the FSQMS database, and prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.

  • Support supply chain diversification initiatives: Support supply chain initiatives as needed including new menu development, new supplier and/or ingredient on-boarding, menu item risk assessments, monitoring of new products after commercialization, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field required

  • HACCP certification, Servsafe and PCQI certification preferred

  • Auditor certification preferred

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, and other relevant food safety standards

  • At least 5+ years of experience in food safety or quality related roles in food manufacturing

  • At least 2 years’ experience in restaurant industry

  • Experience with supplier management, auditing, and corrective action programs.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

  • Experience / strong communication skills across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively both on-site and remotely.

  • Bi-lingual- Spanish is preferred

  • Ability to travel (within and out of state) up to 60% - This is a field focused role based out of the SAG headquarters in Coppell Tx.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (store operations), and lift up to 25 Lbs

  • This role provides critical support to our business and operations teams, requiring a flexible schedule that may include weekends.
