The Kennametal manufacturing plant Bedford, PA currently has an opening for a Maintenance Manager supporting the Earth Cutting Tools (ECT) Business Unit. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.  This position partners closely with the Manufacturing Manager and Manufacturing Team, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, Quality, Sourcing and Finance to ensure that maintenance efforts are optimized for manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

 

• Ensure adherence to plant environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations, and foster commitment across the Maintenance team.
• Operate as a role model who embraces the Kennametal Cultural Beliefs and inspires others to do the same.
• Develop the Bedford Maintenance strategy, incorporating preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance, including automation, aligned with the five-year capital plan.  Build the annual Bedford Maintenance plan to proactively enable the Maintenance strategy and ensure Annual Operating Plan Alignment.
• Drive standardization of equipment with Manufacturing Engineers and Technology Competency Teams to enable leveraged spending with strategic vendors and flexible equipment replacement and repair strategies.
• Lead plant maintenance throughout the facility, ensuring that production requirements are achieved and optimized with minimal unplanned downtime. 
• Establish improvement metrics and a management operating system for critical equipment.
• Ensure that a strong Maintenance Management System is in place with robust data integrity. 
• Drive continuous improvement behaviors throughout the Maintenance team and for yourself.  Enable achievement of Bedford site KPI goals related to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and cost.  Ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Proactively manage Maintenance budget.  Generate cost savings opportunities and partner with support teams (Finance, Engineering, Sourcing, etc.) to realize improvements. 
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop and implement capital projects to meet business and plant objectives. This includes support to enhance sales growth and opportunities to modernize the facility.
• Proactively manage talent in the Maintenance team.  Support direct reports by conducting performance reviews, providing coaching, enabling effective training and maintaining a regular presence on all shop floor areas.  Develop your succession bench.
