About the role

Discovery Education is looking for an Instructional Design Manager to join their team. You will play a key role in the development of digital media and curriculum resources to support the Corporate Education Partnership team’s (CEP) goals. The Manager will be responsible for managing the content development process for multiple projects; working with vendors and independent contractors; helping to develop and improve processes; managing the invoicing for vendors and independent contractors; and helping to provide curriculum and education-related guidance to the Corporate Education Partnerships team.

The Manager will help maintain a culture of the highest level of customer service to both internal and external partners. The Manager will work closely with the CEP Instructional Design team to identify content appropriate for best practices in K-12 instructional practices and to meet each project’s scope and specifications. The Manager will also serve as a daily interface with multiple internal departments and external vendors who provide services to our clients.

The Manager must possess exceptional project management skills while supporting multiple projects to deliver quality curricular resources. A fast-paced, deadline-driven environment creates a need for a detail-oriented person with strong project management skills, a solid understanding of the K-12 education landscape and related instructional practice, and an ability to multitask to meet the curriculum needs of our internal partners and external clients.

This is a remote role.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with the CEP Instructional Design team and the Corporate Education Partnerships team to ensure curriculum development efforts align with educator needs and client expectations.
  • Participate in pre-sale conversations and ideation with Curriculum and Corporate Education Partnerships teams.
  • Manage the development of digital media and instructional resources to support Corporate Education Partnerships opportunities.
  • Establish and monitor plans for on-time delivery of curricular resources.
  • Monitor project budgets related to curriculum projects.
  • Effectively coordinate and direct content development by outside vendors.
  • Ensure vendor adherence to project scope, specifications, and delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain project management tools and processes to track and facilitate the transparency of the project cycle.
  • Handle project-oriented responsibilities and on-going process improvement initiatives.
  • Respond and provide information related to trends and effective instructional practices in K-12 education.
  • Successfully manage the development of curriculum products to ensure on-time delivery and accurate alignment to the needs and expectations of educators and clients.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate the development and implementation efforts across Discovery Education teams.
  • Successfully develop and implement processes for project management and content development.
  • Manage the budgets and invoicing processes for projects and vendors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of content development and/or instructional experience in the K-12 space.
  • Knowledge and understanding of national education standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital media and the use of digital media in instruction.
  • Editorial experience in developing, writing and editing curriculum materials that effectively leverage technology and digital media.
  • Strong communication (both orally and in writing) and people skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and solve problems.
  • Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
