Role Description
This manager role reports to the Director of Talent Management and Human Resources. The Manager of HR Shared Services (HRSS) will centralize and streamline employee facing HR processes. This includes but is not limited to: payroll operations, leave and accommodations, terminations, HRIS administration, HR compliance, and the HR intake processes. The person in this role will be able to connect teams currently working in silos, conduct time study analysis, identify the correct operating structure and re-assign roles and responsibilities as needed to support the employee experience, while meeting business needs.
The manager identifies and leads cross-functional efforts to align the team to goals and support company objectives, ‘busting silos’ and building connectivity and efficiencies across the workforce. They create operational business cadences and reporting structures that coordinate interdependent value streams, in order to continuously improve the employee experience, and support company growth.
The Manager of HR Shared Services (HRSS) is able to analyze HR processes across the talent teams, identify areas of risk, and propose solutions. When long term solutions are not immediately able to solve urgent problems, they can operate with speed to solve in the moment while working on a long term strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: The manager of HRSS is responsible for building, engaging, setting expectations, and driving accountability for the performance of the HRSS team. In the first 30 days, they will be thoughtful in their approach to getting to know the team, understanding the current state, assessing capabilities, and setting clear direction.
- Front Line Support: The HRSS team is the first line of defense for employee concerns. The manager will put in place mechanisms that work across all employee populations (field, remote, corporate) - when tradeoffs need to be made, the needs of our branch employees will be prioritized in decision making.
- Zero defect employee experience: The HRSS Manager will create and iterate on mechanisms to track and monitor the experience of the employees. This includes creating employee facing SLAs and a ticketing (or something similar) system that captures data needed to monitor and drive accountability.
- Process Improvement: The HRSS Manager will routinely look around corners, anticipating barriers and identifying areas for improvement. Fueled by the spirit of innovation, they will embrace and lead the team through change, experiment, fail forward, dig deep to understand root causes of successes and failures, and rapidly put in place solutions that reduce risk and defects.
- Collaboration: The HRSS Manager will work cross functionally with peers both internal to the Talent and HR team, across the broader PFO team, and with key stakeholders. They will assume good intentions, seek to understand the needs of their partners, and deliver the appropriate communication for the given situation. They will bring along the right partners in decision making, and escalate when consensus can’t be reached.
- HR Compliance: In this role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance across employee data protection, company policies, equal employment opportunities best practices, immigration, and additional risk areas identified in partnership with our legal team.
We are looking for:
- Is a systems thinker and able to ‘connect the dots’ across multiple platforms, identifying areas of redundancy and compatibility concerns.
- A structured problem solver and planner, with proven time management, process
