About the role
An exciting leadership opportunity has become available for an experienced Health Information Services Manager to join St John of God Murdoch Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover. As the hospital embarks on an exciting new chapter with the development of the Orthonova Orthopaedic Centre, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant growth initiative and partner with key stakeholders in delivering exceptional patient outcomes and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will be supported by an experienced and collaborative leadership team, ensuring you have the guidance, resources, and support needed to succeed in the role.
You will lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality services, maintaining compliance with legislative and accreditation requirements, and driving continuous improvement across health information management practices. The role is instrumental in supporting accurate clinical coding, data integrity, health fund compliance, and the achievement of key performance indicators.
Working closely with the Shared Health Information Services team, you will contribute to the development of best-practice systems, processes, and governance frameworks that support operational efficiency and service excellence. You will provide oversight of privacy and information release processes, support health fund audits, and ensure compliance with organisational, regulatory, and contractual obligations. In addition, you will play a key role in maintaining the effectiveness of critical systems including the Patient Administration System (PAS), Scanned Health Records (SHR), and My Health Record (MyHR).
As a trusted advisor to hospital leadership, you will collaborate with clinical, finance, and operational stakeholders to deliver insights into activity, case mix, revenue performance, and service outcomes. Through your leadership, you will help optimise clinical documentation standards, strengthen audit readiness, support business development initiatives, and influence strategic decision-making across the hospital. This is an outstanding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care, operational performance, and the future direction of Health Information Services within a leading healthcare organisation.
This position is offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis and can be worked either full-time or part-time, with flexibility of 30.4 to 38 hours per week.

You will have strong knowledge of case mix funding, health information management, and legislative requirements, supported by excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities are essential, along with experience using healthcare information systems, including PAS, SHR, and Microsoft Office, to deliver operational excellence and achieve performance outcomes.
Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
