Job Description

Vericast is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering for our Advertising Execution team and Advertising Infrastructure and Services team. The Ad Execution team builds, maintains, and expands on one of the largest digital advertising footprints in the industry. Our platform is capable of handling well over 1.75 million requests per second, analyzing each to determine value for campaigns we run on behalf of our clients. Our bidders receive, analyze, decision, and place bids faster than the average financial stock trade execution at under 6ms.

The Ad Execution team continues to innovate using the latest technologies to ensure our world-class real time execution platform remains the industry leader. We think big, we build big, we build to be the best. Ad Execution currently utilizes the latest .net Core standards, Java, C++, and Ansible with the occasional use of python. Our exceptional technologies run on CentOS, Ubuntu, and Windows with our core messaging transport capabilities built on Kafka. The Advertising Infrastructure and Services engineering team builds and maintains the heart of our digital advertising business.

We are responsible for the services and infrastructure that configure, pace, and propagate our digital campaign configurations to our advertising execution systems. We make pacing decisions that affect bidding in under 1 second via our real-time messaging system that can move messages in under 3 seconds to 3 remote data centers and over 500 servers. Ad Infrastructure & Services utilizes Java 8 and 11, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks with deployments running on CentOS in our on-premise OpenStack and Kubernetes clusters. I

"What You’ll Do?"

• Manage and lead a team of engineers responsible for the maintenance, performance optimization, and scaling of our realtime configuration, bidding and ad serving servers.

• Deliver product features that enable our internal teams to configure, optimize, and execute on our digital advertising campaigns.

• Contribute to the roadmap for our adtech platform and overall company goals.

• Monitor the performance of both teams and their respective components of the platform, and work to continuously improve performance and scalability.

• Manage the hiring and development of team members, including setting performance goals, providing feedback and coaching, and conducting performance reviews.

• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration that encourages engineers to share ideas and feedback with each other.

• Act as a technical advisor and mentor for team members, providing guidance and support as needed.

• Ensure high technical standards through culture of software quality and engineering best practices

• Remain current with industry trends and developments and leverage this knowledge to inform the direction of both teams and their respective components of the platform.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

• BA/BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics) and/or equivalent relevant and high-performing work experience

EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of experience managing high-performing software teams. 
• 5+ years of experience in software development and delivery.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Experience in coaching/mentoring software engineers
