This role partners cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to translate commercial strategy into an accurate, actionable demand forecast that supports growth, profitability, and exceptional customer experience.
This leader combines strong analytical rigor with business judgment, balancing fast-moving DTC dynamics with the longer lead times and complexity of retail partners. This role directly impacts service levels, inventory investment, and operational efficiency. The Demand Planning Manager ensures that growth ambitions are supported by disciplined planning and operational reality - protecting customer experience while enabling scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Demand Ownership
- Own the end-to-end demand forecast across DTC and retail channels, with direct accountability for forecast accuracy, bias, and inventory outcomes.
- Translate demand plans into constrained supply plans in partnership with supply planning, manufacturing, and procurement.
- Lead demand consensus and S&OP cycles, ensuring plans are executable and aligned to capacity, lead times, and inventory targets.
- Translate Gross Sales forecasts into SKU-level unit forecasts and 3PL order requirements to support distribution and replenishment planning.
- Incorporate promotions, new product launches, lifecycle changes, and marketing initiatives into demand forecasts.
- Support scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and long-range planning to inform executive decision making.
DTC & Retail Operations Planning
Develop channel-specific planning logic:
- DTC: demand volatility, promotions, subscriptions, digital marketing drivers, rapid replenishment.
- Retail: customer forecasts, POS data, order patterns, lead times, fill rate, and OTIF requirements.
- Partner with Sales and Account Management to manage retail commitments and forecast changes.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Act as the operational bridge between Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Clearly communicate risks, constraints, and tradeoffs to senior leadership.
- Support Finance with volume assumptions, inventory reserves, and operational inputs to financial forecasts.
Process, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Build scalable demand planning processes, tools, and KPIs to support business growth.
- Drive improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service levels, and planning discipline.
- Lead system implementations or enhancements (ERP, demand planning tools) as needed.
- Identify root causes of forecast variance and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead process improvements, system migrations, and automation initiatives as the business grows.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or supply chain certifications (CSCP, CPIM) a plus).
- 7–10+ years of demand planning, supply chain, or operations experience in an omnichannel environment.
- Demonstrated success in planning across both DTC/eCommerce and Retail/Wholesale channels.
- Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, or fast-paced omnichannel environments preferred.
